With the start of the 2018-2019 school year on the horizon, the Timmins Police Service is inviting all younger school age children and their parents or guardians to attend
the 15th annual “Young Rider Day” as part of the Bus Buddies safety campaign.
This event focuses on making novice bus riders more familiar with the proper comportment while on the bus as well as how to safely embark and disembark from a school bus.
A school bus can be a little intimidating for first time riders and this program helps alleviate some of the anxiety felt by young students.
Parents also benefit in terms of gaining insight into how their child is expected to behave on a school bus and what safety messaging they can reinforce with their child at home.
The theme for this event is to have fun, be less intimated and to be safety conscious while riding on the bus.
This year’s “Young Rider Day” is slated for Wednesday, August 22nd from 4:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m at Ecole Catholique St- Dominique at 855 Park Avenue in Timmins.
