TIMMINS POLICE ARREST LOCAL WOMAN ON STRENGTH OF WARRANT – LOCATE WEAPON AND CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged a local resident stemming from an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 20th in regards to a breach of a prohibition order.

While on patrol, a Timmins Police officer recognized a pedestrian on Pine Street South wanted on the strength of an active Arrest Warrant held by the Timmins Police.

The Timmins Police Service interviewed the pedestrian and further determined that the subject was also bound by a prohibition order with strict restrictions regarding the possession of weapons.

The subject was arrested on the strength of the Arrest Warrant and found to be in possession of quantities of controlled substances and a weapon.

As a result, Valerie WABANO, 27, of Timmins was arrested and taken into police custody and is charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for tomorrow at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
