Deputy Chief Dacosta took time out of a busy day to welcome a local youngster to the police station for an impromptu visit.
“Parker”, age 4, was fascinated by the Timmins Police regalia, officer badges, and other historical equipment in the lobby’s display case.
Parker’s grandmother, Elaine, relates that her grandson is at an age where he has become interested in the police and what they do every day to make our community a safer place.
Parker was so well behaved at the station that he received a few Timmins Police stickers and and a new hat.
The importance of those rare opportunities to engage with local youngsters in a positive light is not lost on the Timmins Police Service.
As it happens, Parker is related to one of the most dedicated Timmins Police employees, and local Special Olympian, Ashley Keizer (not pictured) – uncle to young Parker.
Pictured are Deputy Chief Dacosta, Parker, Grand-mom Elaine, and Grand-dad Jim.
