The Timmins Police Services Board has enacted a By-law to govern secondary activities engaged in by members of the Timmins Police Service, pursuant to Section 49 of the Police Services Act.
Members of the Timmins Police Service may perform, in a private capacity, services that have been arranged through the police force. These services are commonly referred to as “paid duties”.
Effective January 01, 2007, individuals or organizations who wish to have members of the Timmins Police Service perform duties in a private capacity (i.e., “paid duty”) must make those arrangements by contacting the Paid Duty Coordinator, Timmins Police Service.
Persons requesting members to perform duties in a private capacity must submit a written request (“paid duty contract”) and acknowledge the terms of agreement. All requests for “paid duty” must be authorized by the Inspector of Field Operations and Community Patrol, or designate.
An administration fee, plus applicable G.S.T., is levied on all authorized “paid duty” assignments performed by members of the police service.
