TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE CHARGE LOCAL YOUNG PERSON WITH ROBBERY

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local young person with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation that occurred during the afternoon hours of Monday, May 23rd in the north end of the city.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a male young person who had brandished a weapon and physically accosted a 13-year-old male person.

The suspect persisted with the assault after having collected some of the victim’s personal property and fled on foot.

The 13-year-old was treated at the scene by EMS for the injuries that he sustained.

The suspect was located and arrested by the Timmins Police officer within an hour.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, a 14-year-old young person who cannot be named in keeping with statutory provision, has been charged with:

  • Robbery with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Goods Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused young person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
