TIMMINS POLICE RESPOND TO ALTERCATION – CHARGE LOCAL WOMAN WITH UTTERING THREATS

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a Criminal Code offence stemming from an incident that occurred at a Birch Street North address yesterday evening.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service indicating that a disturbance between two women, who are known to each other, escalated to the point where a verbal threat was uttered from one woman towards the other.

The original call indicated that a weapon was involved in the incident.

As a precautionary measure, responding Timmins Police officers contained the immediate area for public safety reasons.

Based on investigation, the suspect was positively identified, located, and arrested at another location, as a search for the alleged weapon was undertaken at the Birch Street North address by the police.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, a 52-year-old Timmins woman has been charged with:

  • Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The name of the accused is being withheld by the Timmins Police pending the formal swearing of a Criminal Code information before a Justice of the Peace.

The accused person was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling her appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on June 14th to answer to the charge laid against her.
