TIMMINS POLICE REMAIN VIGILANT WITH ONGOING SNOWMOBILE PATROLS OF AREA TRAIL SYSTEMS

In response to a number of complaints received from area property owners who reside in areas adjacent to, or in relative proximity to, the snowmobile trail system, the Timmins Police Service continues to address this issue in terms of focusing on operators who persist in using modified or altered exhaust systems.

Officers with the Timmins Police Service conducted compliance patrols on the trail system and at other key areas of concern in South Porcupine on Friday, February 19th

As a result of this initiative, nine snowmobile operators were found to be in violation of section 18(2) of the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act – Drive Vehicle While Having Component or
Device Removed or Modified

One snowmobile operator was found to be in violation of 2.1(4) – Fail to Display Evidence of Trail Pass of the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act

Each of these interactions resulted in the issuance of an Offence Notice for the violations outlined by statute which carries an appropriate monetary fine in place to promote compliance.

An additional 32 snow machines were stopped with all found to be in full compliance with the applicable statutes and motorized snow vehicle regulations.
