TIMMINS POLICE LOCATE GROCERY STORE BANDIT – LAY CHARGES

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft-related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the early evening hours of Friday, May 15th at an Algonquin Blvd grocery store in Timmins.

The Timmins Police responded to an incident where a man known to police attended at the grocery store and left the premises without making payment for a number of items.

When confronted by the store’s loss prevention officer, the suspect fled on foot.

The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify the suspect and located him a short distance from the original scene.

Upon seeing the police, the suspect fled on foot but was eventually located a short while later and arrested by the Timmins Police Service

As a result of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service, Kevin VIENO, 32, of Timmins, has been charged with:

– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

– Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.  The outcome of that hearing has yet to be determined.
