TIMMINS POLICE LOCATE AND ARREST LOCAL WOMAN FOR SERIES OF THEFTS

The Timmins Police Service arrested a local resident near the intersection of Mountjoy Street South and Third Avenue during the afternoon hours of Sunday, January 10th.

While completing general patrols of the downtown core, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a pedestrian as being a person involved in two separate theft incidents that occurred on January 8th and 9th respectively at a retail outlet located at a Waterloo Road strip mall.

Once the grounds for the arrest were confirmed, the subject was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result, Jeanette OKIMAW, 23, of Timmins was arrested and is charged with:

  • 2 counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges stemming from these previous incidents.
