TIMMINS POLICE LAY DRUG POSSESSION CHARGE AGAINST LOCAL WOMAN

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with drug possession offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Sunday, May 21st at a Fifth Avenue address.

While attending at a call for service regarding a suspicious person, the responding Timmins Police officer located the subject of the complaint.

The subject was approached and interviewed by the police.

It was determined that the woman was using a false name to avoid arrest in regards to an Arrest Warrant held by the Timmins Police Service.

The actual identity of the subject was determined and the validity of the warrant was confirmed.

The subject was subsequently arrested and taken into police custody.

Quantities of controlled substances were located on the suspect’s person and seized as evidence by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of the incident, Monda TOMAGATICK, 36, of Timmins, has been charged with:

– Obstruct Police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

TOMAGATICK remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins, to answer to the charges laid against her.
