The Timmins Police Service is issuing a Traffic Advisory in regards to Commercial Motor Vehicle (tractor-trailer) operators who are not in compliance with the municipal by-laws pertaining to the established truck route detours currently in place in the west end of the city.
Recently, the Timmins Police has become aware that a growing number of tractor trailer operator are failing to make use of the established detours in the west end by making use of Jaguar Road and Sandy Falls Road which is in direct conflict with the direction given by the municipality.
Neither of these roadways are intended for use by larger Commercial Motor Vehicles
The Timmins Police Service has been made aware and will be addressing those operators who choose to disregard the established detours.
Regardless of specific and amplified messaging on the topic, a growing number of operators of these types of vehicles are neglecting their responsibilities in terms of respecting the applicable truck route detours currently in place.
The vast majority of these operators are driving professionals who are fully compliant.
Those tractor trailer operators who choose not to comply with the applicable municipal detours or the stipulations as to adhering to the erected signage are advised that their roadway comportment is a concern for the Timmins Police Service that merits additional attention in order to enhance local roadway safety.
The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section as well as platoon officers will be addressing these issues as they are an obvious public safety priority and a threat to infrastructure in the outlying areas.
