TIMMINS POLICE INVESTIGATE THEFT IN PROGRESS AT LOCAL MOTEL – ARREST SUSPECT

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft-related offences stemming from an incident that occurred early this morning (Feb 7th) at a Timmins motel.
At approximately 12:40 a.m., a male person entered the motel and was observed rummaging through a maintenance room where he attempted to make off with a laptop computer valued at $800.00 and a large number of room keys.
Responding Timmins Police Service officers located the suspect on scene.
The stolen items were recovered and the suspect was arrested without incident.
As a result of the incident, George STEPHEN, 29, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
