TIMMINS POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY IN SCHUMACHER – ARREST THREE SUSPECTS

The Timmins Police Service is in the midst of completing its investigation into a robbery which occurred yesterday evening at a Schumacher variety store.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., three male young persons entered a variety store in Schumacher and brandished an edged weapon and demanded cigarettes from the store clerk.

The three suspects fled with a quantity of cigarettes and other items.

The store clerk was unharmed in the incident.

The responding Timmins Police Service officers were able to quickly identify all three of the suspects and located one of them a short while later in Timmins.

The two other suspects were located and arrested by Timmins Police Service this morning.

All three have been arrested and are currently in police custody.

The male young offenders, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Young Offenders Act, are aged 13, 15, and 16 respectively and are being held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.

The 13-year-old is held on charges of:

  • Robbery with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon or a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The 16-year-old is held on charges of

  • Robbery with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon or a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Disguise with Intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Sentence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The 15-year-old is held on charges of:

  • Robbery with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon or a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
