TIMMINS POLICE INVESTIGATE COLLISION – LAY CHARGES

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a collision involving two vehicles that occurred at approximately 8:40 yesterday morning (10 March) at the intersection of Second Avenue and Maple Street South in Timmins.

The investigation reveals that the driver of one of the vehicles involved failed to stop at the STOP sign that controls the intersection and struck a vehicle that had the right of way.

The ensuing collision resulted in injury to that driver who had failed to stop.

He was transported to hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.

A significant amount of traffic congestion occurred in the immediate area as a result of the collision while EMS and other first responders attended the scene.

The investigation resulted in the 25-year-old male driver being charged with Disobey Stop Sign contrary to the Highway Traffic Act along with a seat belt related offence.

This driver is further charged with Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and has been issued a Summons compelling him to attend court on May 25th to answer to this charge.
