The Timmins Police Service has investigated a disturbance that occurred yesterday morning (January 5th) at a Fifth Avenue residence where a 32 year old woman was assaulted.
Based on investigation, it was determined that a male suspect, who is known to police, became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to the point where he struck a female occupant of the residence.
The suspect was located and arrested by responding Timmins Police officers shortly after the original incident took place.
The victim declined medical treatment for an injury to her arm.
As a result, a 32 year old male person from Timmins has been charged with:
– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 3 counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
