TIMMINS POLICE INVESTIGATE ASSAULT INCIDENT

The Timmins Police Service Criminal Investigations Division is in the midst of completing its investigation into an assault incident which occurred during the early evening hours of Thursday, September 12th in the area of Birch Street South in Timmins.
Responding Timmins Police Service officers located a 31 year old man who had sustained a significant edged weapon injury at the hands of a female suspect.
The investigation reveals that an altercation turned violent at a Birch Street South address where the man was assaulted with an edged weapon resulting in a puncture wound to the abdomen.
The injured party was brought to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance for treatment for his injuries. He remains in their care and is in stable condition.
As part of the investigation, the Timmins Police Service is actively seeking the whereabouts of the suspect and are in possession of an Arrest Warrant for the suspect.
The Timmins Police consider this to be an isolated incident where both parties involved are familiar with each other.
As such there is no threat to public safety stemming from this incident.
The Timmins Police Forensic Identification Unit has completed their technical analysis of the crime scene.
