TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LOCAL WOMAN WITH THEFT AND WEAPONS RELATED OFFENCES

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 20th at a local grocery store.

Based on investigation, it was determined that the woman attended at the grocery store, donned a disguise and proceeded to collect over $150 in grocery items and attempted to flee without paying.

The subject was confronted by a member of the store’s staff.  The subject opted to throw an item at the staff member and continued to exit the store with a cart of stolen merchandise.

The subject was followed out into the store parking lot where she produced a weapon and made threatening gestures towards persons in the immediate area.

The subject abandoned the cart of stolen items and fled the area on foot.

The responding Timmins Police officer identified, located, and arrested the suspect later that same day.

As a result of the incident, Kristin NOAH, 31, of Timmins, has been charged with:

– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– 2 counts of Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Use Disguise in the Commission of an Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Resist Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

NOAH remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for tomorrow at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
