TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LOCAL WOMAN FOR ASSAULTIVE BEHAVIOR TOWARDS SHELTER STAFFERS

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred at a downtown shelter on Tuesday, July 21st.

The Timmins Police Service responded to an incident where the woman began to engage in disruptive and assaultive behavior and uttered threats towards shelter caseworkers.

The woman fled the scene prior to the arrival of Timmins Police Service officers.

The Timmins Police located the woman in question yesterday and completed an arrest without incident.

As a result of the incident, Juanita CHAKASUM, 27, of no fixed address (Timmins), has been charged with:

– Uttering Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to address the charges laid against her.
