TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LOCAL MAN WITH THEFT

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the morning hours of Thursday, September 7th at a Mountjoy Street South convenience store.

Based on investigation, it was determined that the man attended at the convenience store and proceeding to steal merchandise and exited the store.

Upon being confronted by a store clerk, the suspect brandished a weapon before fleeing the area on foot.

The responding Timmins Police officer identified, located, and arrested the suspect a short distance from the original scene.

Some of the stolen merchandise was recovered along with a quantity of a controlled substance

As a result of the incident, Jason LABINE, 21, of Timmins, has been charged with:

– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possess Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Carry Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

LABINE remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
