TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LOCAL MAN WITH ROBBERY – SEIZE WEAPON USED

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged a local man with Robbery related offences stemming from an incident where a 24 year old man was assaulted with a weapon during an altercation that took place yesterday evening (02 May) on Mountjoy Street South.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service where a suspect had accosted a pedestrian with a weapon and then fled on foot to a Mountjoy Street South apartment.

The pedestrian suffered a laceration to his hand during the altercation.

Responding officers identified, located and arrested the suspect a short while later and found him to be in possession of the weapon used in the robbery.

As a result of the incident, Anthony FIREMAN, 26, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Robbery contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
