The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with assault-related Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the morning hours of Friday, November 6th, on Cedar Street North.
The Timmins Police Service responded to a report of a person accosting pedestrians and acting in an aggressive manner.
Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officer located the man in question and determined that he was bound by strict conditions imposed by the Provincial Court in Timmins pursuant to two Probation Orders.
As the attempt to arrest the subject was taking place, the male person engaged in assaultive behavior towards one of the officers.
Based on the outcome of the investigation into the incident, Jeremy NAKOGEE, 22, of Timmins, has been charged with:
- Assault a Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused person was held in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing held on November 9th at Provincial Court in Timmins where he was remanded into custody having to re-attend court on November 13th via Video Remand to answer to the charges laid against him.
