The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred at the rear section of a Riverside Drive big box store during the evening hours of Thursday, April 1st.
A complaint was received by the Timmins Police where a male subject was observed setting fire to a commercial garbage receptacle as well as the rear section of a retail building and then fleeing the scene on foot.
Timmins Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the deliberately set fire.
The suspect was positively identified by means of a review of available video surveillance in the immediate and surrounding area by the investigating Timmins Police officers.
The total damage to the affected property has yet to be determined.
The suspect was located that same evening and arrested by the Timmins Police Service.
As a result of the incident, Joshua BOLDUC, 24, of No Fixed Address (Timmins), has been charged with:
– Arson – Damage to Property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Incendiary Materials contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling him to attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on May 18th to answer to the charges laid against him.
