Timmins man facing weapons charges following traffic stop

On September 1, 2017, at approximately 12:20 a.m., officers on general patrol observed an individual driving a vehicle who they recognized as being a suspended driver. Police initiated a traffic stop and further investigation revealed that the individual was wanted by the Ontario Provincial Police for an unrelated matter. He was placed under arrest. A routine search of the accused revealed that he was in possession of a prohibited weapon, and was also bound by a prohibition order not to possess weapons or ammunition. Police also seized a quantity of controlled substances.

As a result, Terry VAILLANCOURT, 41, of Timmins faces charges including Possession of a Prohibited Weapon while prohibited to do so, Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition, and Possession of a Schedule II Substance.

He was released on a Promise to Appear in court with a future court date of October 10, 2017 in Timmins.
