Individual faces numerous charges after break & enter, theft of vehicles, trespassing and assault incidents

On December 9, 2017, police received a report of a Break & Enter at a residence in Timmins. During the break and enter, several items were taken, including the victim’s vehicle.

At approximately 7 p.m. the same day, police received another report of a stolen vehicle and upon arrival on scene, officers located the original vehicle, which had been switched for the second stolen vehicle.

Further, at approximately 11:15 p.m., police received a report of an unknown individual who had entered a residence in the area of Government Road. The suspect left the residence when confronted by the homeowner and was determined to be barricaded inside a structure on the property.

Patrol officers, along with members of the Emergency Response Team attended the scene, located the individual, and conducted a high-risk arrest of the suspect.

The following day, while in police custody, the individual became confrontational and aggressive with police officers.  A conductive energy weapon was deployed in order to safely gain control of the suspect.

Fortunately, both stolen vehicles were returned to their owners without damage, and no injuries were sustained as a result of these incidents.

As a result of the above-mentioned incidents, Kavin Justin SINGER-MCKENZIE, 36, of Timmins faces charges of:

  • Break & Enter and Commit Indictable offence
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle X2
  • Possession of Property over $5000 X2
  • Possession of Property under $5000 X2
  • Trespass by Night, and;
  • Assault Peace Officer

Singer-McKenzie was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today, December 11, 2017.
