Secondary ground search suspended in search for Christopher Rivers, investigation continues

The Timmins Police Service’s investigation continues into the whereabouts of missing Timmins man Christopher Rivers, 44.

From September 30 to October 3, a secondary ground search was conducted in an area near Murphy Road where Rivers’ vehicle was located. Those involved in the ground search included members of the Timmins Police Service Emergency Response Team, volunteer members of Timmins Porcupine Search and Rescue, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit, as well as volunteer searchers from North Shore Search and Rescue from Sudbury and Elliot Lake.

The secondary ground search yielded negative results in locating any evidence or information about Rivers’ possible whereabouts, and was suspended as of October 4, 2017. This search followed an initial ground search conducted September 8 and 9.  Although the ground search has been suspended, officers from the Criminal Investigations Section continue to investigate.

Christopher Rivers was reported missing on August 28, 2017. He is described as being a Caucasian male, approximately 5’10” tall and approximately 190 lbs. He has a medium build, light brown hair, blue eyes, and possibly has unshaven facial hair.
