TIMMINS POLICE TAKE ON ACTIVE ROLE WITH “WALK OF SORROW” CEREMONIES

In keeping with its commitment to its partnership with local Indigenous groups, the Timmins Police Service provided logistical support to the Walk of Sorrow marchers as part of this year’s awareness campaign.
Earlier today, a group of local supporters, including members of the Timmins Police Service, gathered to participate in this undertaking to help demonstrate support and enhance public awareness.
The behind the scenes safety planning was undertaken as a group effort between Timmins Police Service: T/Sgt. Chypyha, Sgt. Carter, B. Beaven – Community Liaison Coordinator, Cst. L. Blanchette, Cst. M-A Demers, Aux Sgt. G. Simpson and Aux Cst. T. Grydsuk
working in collaboration with Nish-Nawbe Aski Police Service and the Timmins Native Friendship Center.
