The Timmins Police Service is once again teaming up with our community partners at “The Bargain Shop” as well as Victim Services to collect toys and gifts for children in need this holiday season!
This is the fourth year for this event and last year we surpassed $3500 in donations and helped make the Season brighter for over 40 families within our community.
The elves over at the Bargain Shop have already begun collecting toys for Santa.
Everyone is encouraged to attend at the Bargain shop at 414 Algonquin Blvd East in Timmins, to purchase and donate a new toy or gift card.
As well, new, unwrapped toys can also be dropped off at the Victim Services office within the Timmins Police building.
Local businesses are also encouraged to get involved with the purchase of gift cards from the Bargain Shop or other local grocery stores or restaurants to help make the Season bright for local families.
On Saturday, December 7, the Timmins Police will be hosting a Christmas celebration at the Bargain Shop’s Timmins location during their usual hours of business operations.
There will be hot chocolate and treats available, entertainment and prizes.
11:00 a.m. would be the optimum time for the media to attend for photo ops and interviews.
That said, please feel free to make as much public awareness about this campaign to inspire donations in the days leading up to the actual event slated for December 7th
Attention will likely translate into program success in terms of donations.
Later on in the day of the 7th, the gifts will be transported back to the Victim Services office where the ladies will sort and dispense to families in need.
Anyone who may wish to pick up a gift for their child is welcome to attend the Victim Services office at 185 Spruce St S, beginning Monday, December 9 until Friday, December 20 between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.
Merry Christmas Everyone!!
