MEET THE YIPIs!

The Timmins Police Service’s YIPI (Youth in Policing Initiative) students are once again active in the community this summer, participating in various events including the Downtown Urban Park, the Timmins Concert Series, Bike Rodeos, and other events and campaigns taking place at the Timmins Police Service.

Bailey is a Grade 11 student at TH&VS, and would like to pursue a career as a police officer. He is looking forward to the variety of duties that comes with the YIPI program. So far, he says the highlight of his summer has been working Stars & Thunder.

Ryan is a Grade 10 student at TH&VS, who says he is thinking about a career in either law enforcement or medicine. He is looking forward to ride alongs, and ‘being out in the field.’

Sarah has just graduated from Grade 12 at O’Gorman High School and will be attending Western University for Science in the fall. She is looking forward to working with kids this summer and exploring her career options in policing.

Alexa is going into Grade 12 at École secondaire Theriault, and is spending the summer as a YIPI student to explore her interest in the field of policing. She says it’s the ‘active’ side of policing that interests her, adding “I like to be in the action.”

Annie has just graduated from Grade 12 at École secondaire Theriault, and will be attending Nipissing University in the Fall for Criminal Justice. She is looking forward to learning about the different sections of the Timmins Police Service and “seeing how everything works out on the road.”
