Weekend patrols lead to charges for several individuals

Over the Civic holiday weekend, Timmins Police Service officers responded to more than 320 calls for service. Several incidents resulted in criminal charges being laid.

On August 4 at approximately 12:00 a.m., a police officer on general patrol spoke to an individual in the area of Hersey Lake in Timmins. Information received by police indicated that the male was bound by a Recognizance, with a conditions including to remain in his residence at all times and not possess unlawful drugs. The accused was arrested, and upon conducting a routine search, was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

As a result of this incident, Dustin DONIVAN, 28, of Timmins was charged with Breach of Recognizance (x2) and Possession of a Schedule II substance. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing, and was subsequently released on a Recognizance of Bail with a future court date of August 29, 2017.

On August 6, at approximately 6:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed an individual who he recognized as being bound by a Recognizance of Bail. Upon further investigation, the accused was found to be bound by conditions to remain in his residence at all times. As a result of this incident, Pharoah TOOKATE, 33, of Timmins was arrested and charged with Breach of Recognizance. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for today, August 8, 2017.
