TIMMINS POLICE THROW SUPPORT BEHIND OMUSHKEGOWUK WALKER – DANNY METATAWABIN

The Timmins Police and the OPP took part in the Omushkegowuk Walk that took place on Tuesday, August 23rd with the procession making its way from the McIntyre Arena to the Timmins Native Friendship Centre.

The walk was organized and undertaken to raise awareness of treaty rights for all Indigenous persons.

Danny Metatawabin has been walking for 22 days from Ottawa to Timmins.

This winter he will continue walking to Attawapiskat once the winter road has been completed.

The event went off without a hitch and the efforts of local law enforcement to enhance the safety of all participants was certainly appreciated.
