TIMMINS POLICE RESPOND TO “UNRESPONSIVE PERSONS” CALL FOR SERVICE – LAY DRUG CHARGES

The Timmins Police Service has charged 2 persons with a number of Criminal Code and Drug Possession offences stemming from an incident that occurred yesterday morning at the Porcupine Mall parking lot.

A concerned citizen observed two unconscious persons in a parked vehicle and notified police and ambulance personnel.

Responding Timmins Police officers attended the scene, located the vehicle with the engine running, and managed to rouse both occupants.

Both the male and female occupants of the vehicle declined medical treatment.

Further investigation by police resulted in the location and seizure of the following evidence:

– 15 methamphetamine tablets
– 1.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine
– 5.4 grams of teal fentanyl
– 74.5 grams of blue fentanyl
– a quantity of Canadian Currency

The estimated street value of the controlled substances is estimated to be $48,195.00.

As a result of the incident, Ashley VANMAANEN, 39, and Jamey LOCEY, 43, both of Schumacher, have been charged respectively with:

– Trafficking: Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

– Possession: Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Additionally, LOCEY faces additional Criminal Code charges of:
– Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Both charged persons remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the respective charges laid against them.
