TIMMINS POLICE EXECUTE SEARCH WARRANT – SEIZE WEAPONS AND QUANTITY OF DRUGS

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a Criminal Code firearm related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Wednesday, January 18th in Timmins.

Based on an investigation coordinated by the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division, a Search Warrant was executed yesterday at a Birch Street North address where the police located and seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, a prohibited magazine, and a quantity of heroin.

Once on site, the Timmins Police Service located and arrested Michael ALLEN, 42, of Timmins.

He is charged with:

  • Careless Storage of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 3 counts of Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Firearm – Tampered Serial Number contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
