TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LOCAL WOMAN WITH ROBBERY

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with Robbery related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the late afternoon hours of Tuesday, March 7th at a Third Avenue thrift shop in Timmins.

Based on investigation it has been determined that a suspect attended at the retail store and proceeded to collect various items, concealing them from store personnel.

When confronted by store staff, the suspect brandished a weapon and fled on foot with stolen merchandise.

No one sustained any injuries during the altercation.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers were able to identify the suspect who was located and arrested at an Elm Street North address later that same day.

As a result of the incident, Sabrina TOOKATE, 22, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Robbery contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

TOOKATE remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
