TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LOCAL WOMAN WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION -TWICE IN LESS THAN 48 HOURS

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with Impaired Driving related Criminal Code offences stemming from two incidents that occurred recently.

Based on investigation, it has been determined that a woman was driving on O’Brien Street in Porcupine during the afternoon hours of Sunday, March 26th when she struck a parked car.

The driver left the scene of the collision and managed to return to her residence.

Based on the evidence collected, she was later identified and located at an area hospital.

As a result of the incident, Krystal FORTIER, 36, of Porcupine, has been charged with:

– Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Fail to Remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– Drive While under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

She was released from police custody on the strength of an Appearance Notice compelling her to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 9th

During the afternoon hours of Tuesday, March 28th, the same individual was driving on Harold Avenue in Porcupine when she was involved in a single vehicle motor vehicle collision where she left travelled portion of the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.

The responding Timmins Police officer made observations as to the level of impairment of the driver.

Based on those observations, the driver was arrested and transported to the Timmins Police station to complete breath testing procedures.

As a result of this second incident, Krystal FORTIER, 36, of Porcupine, has been charged with:

– Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Operate Motor Vehicle – Concentration Over 80 Mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Drive While under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice to address the charges laid against her.
