The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a criminal incident that has led to the arrest of a Timmins man.
The Timmins Police Service responded to an early morning altercation that occurred on Friday, September 15th in a laneway off of Birch South where a 26-year-old female person was assaulted and sustained injury to the head.
The investigation determined that a male suspect accosted a pedestrian in the laneway and proceeded to commit an assault by striking the female victim in an unprovoked but deliberate manner.
A co-worker of the victim discovered the assault in progress and rendered assistance to the victim, while notifying the police.
The suspect was identified, located, and arrested later the same day in the vicinity of Birch Street and Algonquin Blvd by the Timmins Police.
As a result, Jeremy NAKOGEE, 25, of Timmins has been charged with:
- 2 counts of Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 2 counts of Fail to comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him
