The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with arson stemming from an incident that occurred at an Elm Street North address yesterday afternoon (October 24th).
Based on investigation, it was determined that the suspect attended the location and purposely set fire to the contents of a large garbage bin on site.
The Timmins Fire Department attended the scene to extinguish the blaze without incident.
Based on CCTV video footage, and the assistance of a number of witnesses, the responding officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the suspect at a separate location.
The fire resulted in an unknown amount of damage to the receptacle.
As a result of the incident, Nathan GUILLEMETTE-PREVOST, 27, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Arson – Damage to Property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
