TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LOCAL MAN BASED ON INVESTIGATION INTO A SERIES OF THEFTS

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from incident that occurred between March and July of this year at a local big box store.

The Timmins Police Service, working in conjunction with corporate loss prevention officers, investigated a series of incidents of theft or fraud in relation to store merchandise committed by the same suspect.

The investigation culminated with the arrest of a male suspect on October 1st at his residence.

Based on investigation, over $3500.00 in stolen or fraudulently obtained property was recovered that same day by the Timmins Police and returned to the retailer.

As a result of the investigation, Mathieu BELLIVEAU, 38, of Timmins, has been charged with:

– Fraud Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– 6 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– 6 counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

BELLIVEAU was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling his appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on November 21st to answer to the charges laid against him.
