TIMMINS POLICE CHARGE LCOAL MAN WITH WEAPONS OFFENCES

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with Criminal Code weapons related offences based on an investigation into a set of incidents that took place at a Cameron Street South address recently.

The Timmins Police investigated instances where the suspect had attended at a Cameron Street South residential address on two separate occasions and proceeded to discharge a pellet gun towards the residence.

On both occasions, once on September 27th and the second on October 2nd, the residence sustained damage.

Based on investigation, it was determined that the suspect had used a vehicle without the owner’s consent on one of the occasions.

Based on a review of CCTV footage, the Timmins Police was able to identify, locate and arrest the suspect and placed him under arrest.

As a result, Shawn HATTIE, 55, of Timmins has been charged with the following offences:

  • Mischief to Property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Take Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Careless Use of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Use Firearm in the Commission of an Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Criminal Harassment contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

HATTIE remains in police custody awaiting his next court appearance slated for October 6th at the Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges laid against him.
