TIMMINS POLICE ALERTED TO SEMI CONSCIOUS DRIVER BY CONCERNED CITIZENS – CHARGES LAID

The Timmins Police Service has charged a Gogama man with Impaired Driving related Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the afternoon hours of Friday, December 18th in a parking lot off of Waterloo Road in Timmins.

Concerned citizens observed a semi-conscious man slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle and notified the Timmins Police.

The vehicle was located by a responding Timmins Police officer who proceeded to interview the driver and made observations about the driver’s level of intoxication.

Based on the observations regarding the driver’s physical demeanor, the driver was arrested and taken to the Timmins Police station to have further testing completed by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As a result of the incident, Ricky LAMONTAGNE, 46, of Gogama, has been charged with:

– Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking requiring that he attend Provincial Court in Timmins on January 5th, 2021, to address the charge laid against him.
