The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 14th at an Algonquin Blvd grocery store in Timmins.
An off-duty Timmins Police Service officer was in the grocery store when he observed a male subject concealing grocery items on his person.
The off-duty officer confronted the subject and suggested that he return the items.
The subject opted to assault the off-duty officer.
The male subject was eventually taken into police custody at the scene with the assistance of responding Timmins Police officers
The stolen merchandise was recovered.
As a result of the incident, Bobby WESLEY, 31, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
WESLEY remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
